MADISON, Wis. – After an hour-and-a-half of weather delays this afternoon, the Green Bay Women's Soccer team squared off with the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison. Wisconsin scored one first half goal before tacking on two more in the second en route to a 3-0 victory. The loss is the first of the season for the Phoenix, moving their record to 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Badgers started the game on the front foot with a 22nd-minute goal from Emma Jaskaniec to grab a 1-0 lead. The Phoenix were outshot 10-1 in the frame, with the one shot coming from Emily Murphy.
The hosts kept their foot on the gas in the second with goals in the 58th and 66th minutes. Annie Mason led Green Bay with seven saves, which tied a season-high for the Phoenix keeper.
GAME NOTES
- Mason recorded seven saves for the Phoenix out of 24 total Badgers shots.
- The goals conceded in Sunday's match were the first in official competition. GB had previously recorded two shutouts against Chicago State and Western Illinois.
- GB defender Justice Taylor Colburn started her first career game Sunday afternoon.
