Green Bay has played Wright State 37 times, dating back to the 1988 season. The Phoenix holds a 20-15-2 record against the Raiders and has won three of the last five.
ABOUT THE RAIDERS
Jake Slemker was named head coach of the Wright State men's soccer program in July of 2018 after being involved as a player, assistant coach, and associate head coach for the Raiders. Under Slemker's watch, the Raiders have advanced to six Horizon League Championships, including the program's first Championship title, and six double-digit winning seasons.
Joe Kouadio has a big influence on Wright State's play, pacing the team in goals (2), points (4), shots (14), and shots on goal (6). The senior forward from London, England, scored three goals last season, third-highest on WSU, despite recording the team's fourth-highest shot total.
BARRY SOLID PERFORMANCE
The Horizon League tabbed Hesron Barry as Defensive Player of the Week on September 6. Barry garnered the honor after starting the team's first four games as a center back while being just one of three players on the team to play all 360 minutes. It marked the second consecutive week a GB player garnered the honor. He leads all GB defenders with three shots.
WINNING WAYS
Green Bay's win over Bradley marks the fourth time since the 2010 season the Phoenix has been unbeaten in their first four games. The previous three times GB has been unbeaten through four games are 2018, 2017, and 2013. All three were winning seasons, including a Horizon League Championship appearance in 2017 and a HL Quarterfinal appearance in 2018.
ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF
The Phoenix got younger this last offseason, with head coach Jeremy Bonomo bringing in 20 recruits. In total, there are 14 true freshmen on the squad. Chris Album has been stellar for GB through the team's first four contests. He is tied with Andrew Paolucci for most goals scored (2) and points (4) while pacing the team with nine shots.
ON THE HORIZON
After GB plays Wright State, they'll compete in one final non-conference game at St. Thomas on Sept. 21. The Phoenix will face Horizon League foes the rest of the regular season starting Sept. 28 when Detroit Mercy visits Titletown.
