GREEN BAY, Wis. -Â The Green Bay men's basketball team was back at the Resch Center Saturday night taking on the Robert Morris Colonials. It was a two point game at the half before the Colonials eventually took the contest 72-38.
Randy Tucker led the Phoenix (2-19, 1-9 HL) with 11 points and seven rebounds. Clarence Cummings III and Jack Rose tallied six points apiece for GB.
RMU (9-12, 4-6 HL) was led by Kahliel Spears, who had 19 points and six rebounds. Enoch Cheeks tallied 13 points and eight assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Colonials jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, the Phoenix put their resolve on display, battling back to whittle Robert Morris' halftime lead to two points. Tucker was the main reason for the comeback, scoring seven points in the final six minutes of the half. Cummings, Brock Heffner and Donavan Short all registered assists in that span on Tucker baskets.
Similar to the first half, RMU scored the first 11 points of the second half. While a Cummings jumper momentarily broke the momentum, the Colonials scored another eight straight points to extend their lead to 19. After a converted and-one by Garren Davis midway through the half, Robert Morris went on another 10-0 run in the next two minutes. Rose was a late spark off the bench for GB, hitting a triple and three free throws in the waning minutes.
