INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Green Bay volleyball team got back in the win column Friday night with a 3-2 victory over the IUPUI Jaguars on the road. The win moves Green Bay's Horizon League record to 7-3.

Emma Best was outstanding all around for the Phoenix, finishing with 11 kills and 14 digs. Hannah Vanden Berg led the offense with 18 kills to go with nine digs. On the defensive end, Abby Gardner chipped in with 18 digs, while Natalie Johanknecht had a career-high six blocks.

Morgan Ostrowski was solid for IUPUI, leading the team with 14 kills. Emily Alan also finished in double figures with 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix started out on the front foot, grabbing a 4-1 lead to start, and never looking back. Green Bay led by as many as eight points at 19-11 before closing out the set 25-20. GB got a solid defensive performance from the front row, blocking four IUPUI attacks.

SET 2 | Green Bay again controlled the second set from the start, opening up an 8-3 lead that they never relinquished. GB was hot offensively in the stanza, finishing with 16 kills as a team on a .379 attack percentage.

SET 3 | IUPUI avoided a sweep after taking the third set 25-19. The Phoenix built a 17-13 lead, but the Jaguars responded with their backs against the wall with a 12-2 run to close it out and extend the match.

SET 4 | The Jaguars forced a fifth set after taking a close fourth set, 26-24. IUPUI led the entire way until the Phoenix tied the set up at 24 all with a Vanden Berg kill. Unfortunately for GB, they dropped the final two points to IUPUI to head to a fifth set.

SET 5 | The hosts built themselves a slight 6-4 edge to start, but that was when GB turned up the pressure. The Phoenix went on a 4-0 run that extended to a 12-4 run that help them secure the win. The Phoenix front row defense was key once again, blocking four more IUPUI attacks.

GAME NOTES
» Green Bay had three players in double figures in kills.
» Kendall Schara had a team-high three aces in the win.
» Emma Best Johnson finished the match with 41 assists.
» GB outhit IUPUI .204 to .136.
» Tiffany Paalman was strong defensively, recording five blocks.

COMING UP
Green Bay will look to go 2-0 on the weekend tomorrow when they travel to Purdue Fort Wayne for a 3 p.m. match. Phoenix fans will be able to watch the match on ESPN+ or follow along with live stats.
