Kline Named Coach of the Year after Phoenix Impress at #HLXC Championships

FAIRBORN, Ohio – It was a day to remember for the Green Bay Cross Country team at the 2023 Horizon League Championships Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix men finished in fifth out of ten teams which is the best finish at the #HLXC Championships in program history. The impressive finish resulted in the league selecting Green Bay cross country head coach Mike Kline as the Horizon League Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

The women finished ninth out of 11 teams, while Kelsey Radobicky stood out individually for the Phoenix. She placed eighth and secured a Second Team All-Horizon League spot after running the 6K in 21:31.2.

FULL RESULTS

On the men's side, the Phoenix was led by a 29th place finish from freshman Noah Jahnke, who finished the 8K in 25:12.5. Riley Siltman was not far behind, coming in 39th with a 25:22.6. Another freshman rounded out the top three for GB, which was Mason Gates, who finished in 44th with a 25:39.0.

Youngstown State took home the title with a team score of 31, while IUPUI and Oakland rounded out the top three.

Behind Radobicky's eighth place finish was Ellie Smith, who finished in 28th place with a 22:45.5. Grace Beyer rounded out the top three on the women's side with a 49th place finish after crossing the finish line in 23:26.0.

Oakland won the women's championship with 67 points, with Purdue Fort Wayne and Milwaukee rounding out the top three.
