Phoenix Adds Bennett Basich to 2024 Recruiting Class

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball head coach Sundance Wicks has added to the 2024-25 roster Thursday afternoon, announcing the addition of 6-foot-4 guard Bennett Basich. Committing from Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin, Basich will remain in his home state to play college hoops with the Green Bay Phoenix.

Bennett Basich has been a key piece all four years in his Arrowhead High School career, which has already included a WIAA State Tournament Championship in 2022-23. Arrowhead made the Division I Championship game a season ago against undefeated De Pere thanks in large part to Basich and current Phoenix freshman Mac Wrecke

"The biggest reason I chose Green Bay is because they believed in me," Basich said, "They are creating a culture in this program that I wanted to be apart of."

"Bennett Basich is a TOUGH-MINDED, ULTRA COMPETITIVE WINNER that BELIEVES in our mission and vision. In short, Bennett is an EVERYDAY DUDE (#EDD)," said Wicks.

In 26 games his junior season, Basich affected the game in a number of ways, scoring 15.9 points per game, pulling down 9.1 rebounds per game (led team), and racked up 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Basich led Arrowhead to victory over Neenah in the WIAA State Semifinals with a team-leading 19 points to go along with nine rebounds. The Hartland, Wis., native was selected First Team All-League in the Classic Eight Conference for the second time following his junior season. Basich was also WIAA All-State Honorable Mention.

"In this next recruiting cycle one thing our staff is identifying early in the process are players who show up every day the same exact way," Wicks continued. "Players like Bennett Basich. He has relentless energy, plays with maximum effort, demonstrates unbridled enthusiasm for his teammates, and has an insanely competitive mindset regardless of the circumstances."

Through the first four games of his senior season, Basich has continued to evolve as a three-level scorer, averaging a team-leading 22.0 points per game while shooting 54.7 percent from the floor and 36.0 percent from three.

Wicks concluded, "Bennett is the same way at 8 am in an empty gym in the middle of summer in Appleton, as he is playing for the state championship in March in Madison. Please help me welcome the newest member of the Phoenix Phamily, Bennett Basich!"
