Green Bay Unable to Get into Offensive Rhythm Against Oakland

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Cade Meyer scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds en route to his second career double-double but the Green Bay men's basketball fell 59-47 to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at home on Thursday.

The Phoenix (3-23, 2-13 HL) had 38 of its 47 points scored by the trio of Meyer, Davin Zeigler, and Clarence Cummings III.

Oakland (11-15, 9-6 HL) got the win on the back of a double-double from Trey Townsend, who scored 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oakland jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before the Phoenix roared back with an 8-1 run of its own, highlighted by a pair of Zeigler triples, to take a 10-9 lead. After that, however, GB went cold, and the Golden Grizzlies opened up a 25-12 lead with 4:18 to go in the half. Cummings added three free throws in the half's closing moments to bring Green Bay's deficit back down to 11. The Phoenix trailed 29-18 at halftime.

Green Bay came out of halftime clicking on all cylinders, going on a 9-0 run to shrink the deficit to 29-27 with 17:49 to go. Cummings chipped in seven points in the first four minutes of the half. The Phoenix then went on an 11-minute scoring drought from 14:51 to 3:34. In that time, Oakland stretched their lead from three points to 22 points. Meyer was a late spark for GB, scoring eight points in the final four minutes of the contest, including a dunk. Spurred by that success, Green Bay cut the gap to 12 at the game's end, falling by a final score of 59-47.
