CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Green Bay softball team played its sixth game in four days at Austin Peay on Monday afternoon, and fell to the Governors 2-0 on their home turf.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The lone scoring of the game came in the third inning when Austin Peay scored two unearned runs on Phoenix starter Brittany Baneck. The right-hander went six innings, giving up the two unearned runs on three hits, allowing six walks, and striking out three.
Jadin Justman, Paige Hanson, and Lauren Porter all singled in the top half of the seventh to load the bases, but the Governors' Samantha Miener struck out Randi McKay to slam the door on the Phoenix comeback bid.
Justman led the way offensively for the Phoenix, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
GAME NOTES
» The Phoenix out-hit the Governors at a 5-3 clip.
» Baneck held Austin Peay to 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
» Kaylin Fahy was the fourth Phoenix member to register a hit, finishing 1-for-2 at the plate.
» Austin Peay was led offensively by Lexi Osowski-Anderson, who went 2-for-2 with two doubles.
NEXT UP
Green Bay will take on Lipscomb on Wednesday at noon before opening up Horizon League play this weekend at Northern Kentucky. GB will play a single game against the Norse on Friday before a doubleheader on Saturday.
