GREEN BAY, Wis. – Friday morning Director of Athletics Josh Moon announced the hiring of Kassie Wagner as a Senior Associate AD for Compliance and Student-Athlete Experience as well as Senior Woman Administrator. Wagner returns to Green Bay after previously serving in the same role from 2014-2020.
"We are excited to welcome Kassie back to UWGB," said Moon. "Kassie did tremendous work during her time here previously and has strong relationships throughout campus that will help all of us in athletics, especially our student-athletes. We look forward to Kassie's leadership within the department and she will help us navigate the ever-changing landscape of Division I athletics and the recommendations/requirements that are on the horizon."
In Wagner's role, she will monitor the athletics department for compliance with the NCAA, Horizon League, and institutional rules and regulations and provide NCAA rules education to coaches, staff, and student-athletes. She will also work closely with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to address student-athlete concerns and institute programs that will help student-athletes develop academic, social, emotional, and life skills while at Green Bay.
"I am so happy to be back with the Green Bay Phoenix again," Wagner said. "I have missed working with our coaches and student-athletes and seeing them grow professionally and personally. Lastly, I'd like to thank Josh Moon for the opportunity to come back and impact our student-athletes!"
As the senior woman administrator, Wagner will guide on issues involving female student-athletes and sports programs. She will also provide sport supervision for several programs and serve on the athletics department's senior staff.
Wagner will resume her responsibilities as the Senior Woman Administrator after Green Bay Volleyball head coach Abbey Sutherland served in the role for the past three years.
"Abbey embraced the SWA role this past three years and has made our department better because of her hard work and dedication to our student-athletes," Moon continued. "Abbey will continue to help us on some larger department initiatives moving forward and I know she is excited to spend more time focusing on the continued elevation of Phoenix volleyball. We can't thank Abbey enough for her service as SWA and all she does for Phoenix athletics."
Wagner returns to Green Bay after three years in the Green Bay Area Public School District. She served as the Executive Assistant for the Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Schools for a year and taught first, second, and third grade at Tank Elementary for the past two years.
