HEAR FROM HEAD COACH ABBEY SUTHERLAND
"Not playing with a setter was a new and different challenge for us," said Sutherland. "But I thought we came out with a really good game plan, and we all got better with the mindset that this is going to help us in the long run."
"We believe in this team and our ability to get the outcomes that we want," Sutherland continued. "We can praise the effort over the outcomes for the entire weekend. We have the pieces to the puzzle; we just need to put it all together."
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The first set was as back-and-forth as you can get, with the two teams finding themselves tied 10 separate times. Unfortunately, Green Bay's six services aces weren't enough, and the Tigers scored the final two points to take the set 27-25.
SET 2 | Green Bay then dropped the second set 25-13 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Clemson grabbed the lead for good at 10-9 and used a 15-4 run to close out the frame.
SET 3 | The Phoenix fell in a tough third set 25-10. A 12-0 Tigers run in the middle of the set was key to the win.
GAME NOTES
» Vanden Berg's five aces were a season-high.
» Cora Behnke and Tiffany Paalman helped the Phoenix offense with six kills apiece.
