Kondrakiewicz Paces Green Bay to Eighth Consecutive Win

The Milwaukee native also registered a season-high in blocks

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Eight. Straight. Wins. The Green Bay women's basketball team dominated the Youngstown State Penguins Thursday night at the Kress Center, cruising to an 85-47 victory. The Phoenix scored 80 or more points for the sixth time this season and the fifth time in the last seven games. During the winning streak, GB has racked up at least 70 points seven times, all in the last seven contests.

Three Phoenix (13-3, 6-0 HL) reached double figures, paced by Jasmine Kondrakiewicz's 16, which tied her season-high. Cassie Schiltz chipped in with 15 while Natalie McNeal tacked on 14 more.

YSU (6-11, 2-5 HL) was led by Abby Liber and Haley Thierry, who each tallied 10 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Youngstown State took a quick 3-2 lead after Paige Shy drilled a three, but Green Bay answered with a pair of McNeal free throws and held the lead for the rest of the game. The Germantown native scored four of GB's 24 points in the opening quarter, helping the Phoenix to a 10-point advantage. Freshman Maren Westin got in on the action in the second stanza, knocking down a triple, and scoring five of her eight points in the frame. Westin's trey put GB up by 21, and the Phoenix carried a 27-point lead into the locker room after Maddy Schreiber splashed a three as time wound down at the end of the half.

Kondrakiewicz hit a three early in the third quarter, blowing open GB's lead to 30. Green Bay would hold at least that big of a lead for the rest of the game, reigning victorious for the eighth consecutive contest, defeating Youngstown State 85-47.
