BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – The Green Bay golf teams wrapped up their coed match play tournament, the Motor City Matchup at Birmingham Country Club yesterday. After two days of matches against Central Michigan and Detroit Mercy, the Phoenix finished third out of four teams.
During day one on Monday, the Phoenix fell by a final score of 7.5 to 5.
Riley Pechinski and Treny Meyer each tied their Central Michigan counterparts, while
Mason Haupt,
Caylie Kotlowski,
Jordan Shipshock, and Bret Wieland picked up wins and one point each for GB. Haupt and Wieland were especially strong, each shooting a 71 (-1) on day one. Despite narrowly losing his head-to-head,
Max Reis also had a good round, firing off a 74 (+2).
DAY ONE RESULTS
After falling in day one, the Phoenix moved into the third-place match against Detroit Mercy on Tuesday. The Phoenix ended up winning the match 7.5 to 3.5. GB was once again led by under-par rounds from Haupt and Wieland. Haupt shot a 68 (-4) while Wieland shot a 70 (-2). Besides those two, Green Bay got match wins from
Trent Meyer (75, +3),
Jordan Shipshock (85, +13),
Riley Pechinski (78, +6), and
Ellie Frisch (82, +10).
