Andersen Has Career Day as Green Bay Dominates Detroit Mercy

GB is still in fight for first place with Cleveland State

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay women's basketball got a career day from Natalie Andersen that paved the way for a blowout win over Detroit Mercy, 87-44, on Saturday afternoon at the Kress Center.

Andersen led all scorers with 18 points for the Phoenix (23-5, 16-2 HL). Maddy Schreiber added 11 and Natalie McNeal chipped in with 10. Green Bay spread the wealth, with 10 players tallying at least five points and six players scoring at least seven points.

Detroit Mercy (15-14, 8-10 HL) was paced by Makayla Jackson's nine points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UDM kept things close to start, taking an 8-6 lead midway through the opening quarter after a Jackson jumper. Once Bailey Butler dropped a mid-range shot to take a 10-8 lead, Green Bay led the rest of the contest. GB ended the first quarter on a 17-4 run, culminating in a triple by Callie Genke. Green Bay poured it on in the second frame, holding UDM to 3-for-10 shooting while forcing eight Titans turnovers. GB held a 24-point lead at the break after UDM's Myonna Hooper sunk a half-court shot at the buzzer.

Green Bay was on cruise control in the second half, ballooning the lead to 36 after another Genke trey. The Phoenix led by at least 40 points for the majority of the final stanza, winning its sixth-straight contest by a final of 87-44.

GAME NOTES
» Green Bay's bench racked up 49 points compared to UDM's 22.
» The Phoenix turned 23 Titans turnovers into 34 points on the offensive end.
» Green Bay had a 37-21 edge on the boards in the win.

UP NEXT
Green Bay will turn its attention to a brief road trip to Purdue Fort Wayne next Wednesday (6 p.m. tipoff) before hosting the regular season finale against in-state rival Milwaukee on March 2.
