Borseth Collects 500th Win as a Phoenix as McNeal, Schreiber Pace Green Bay to Victory

Several career milestones were hit Thursday night at the Kress Center

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay women's basketball team got back in the win column Thursday night with a 67-51 victory over the Northern Kentucky Norse. Head Coach Kevin Borseth collected his 500th career win as a Phoenix with the win. Green Bay also has yet to lose consecutive contests this season.

Natalie McNeal, playing in her 100th career game, paced the Phoenix (18-5, 11-2 HL) with her fifth career double-double, tallying a dozen points while tying her career-high in rebounds with a whopping 16. Maddy Schreiber added 16 points, which led all scorers, while Jasmine Kondrakiewicz chipped in with 12.

The Norse (6-16, 4-9 HL) were led by Macey Blevins' 14 points. She was the only NKU player to reach double figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay fell behind 15-4 midway through the opening stanza. NKU was knocking down triples, with Blevins making a three to give the Norse an 11-point advantage. The Phoenix fought back and ended the frame on a 10-0 run, sparked by four points from McNeal and three from Bailey Butler. The Phoenix continued to be aggressive and eventually took the lead with 6:32 to go before halftime when Natalie Andersen made a jumper. Both squads traded punches, but it was Green Bay going into the break with a 31-28 lead after Callie Genke banked in a long trey right before the buzzer.

GB was nearly unstoppable in the third quarter, outscoring NKU 24-8. Kondrakiewicz hit a pair of threes, and Cassie Schiltz either scored or assisted on six of Green Bay's points, helping the Phoenix to a 55-36 lead through three quarters. Green Bay slowed down offensively in the final frame, but the lead was too big for the Norse to overcome, and the Phoenix got back in the 'W' column with a 67-51 win.
