GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay volleyball team bounced back on Friday night, taking down Cleveland State in straight sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-12) at the Kress Events Center. The Phoenix showcased a dominant all-around performance, combining efficient offense with relentless defense to earn their fourth conference victory of the season.
For Green Bay,
Katie Schulz led the charge with 15 kills, while
Diane Pichelman added 10 kills and three blocks. Setter
Emma Johnson directed the attack with 31 assists, and
Kayla Birmingham anchored the back row with 21 digs. The Phoenix finished the match hitting an impressive .265, recording 42 kills on 113 attempts.
For Cleveland State, Bryn VanVleet led the Vikings with nine kills, followed by Laken Voss with six. Isabella Gibbons tallied 19 assists, and Vayda Delventhal paced the defense with 16 digs and three aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The opening frame was tightly contested as both teams traded points early. Green Bay pulled ahead late with timely kills from Schulz and Pichelman, closing out the set 25-22.
SET 2 | The Phoenix offense hit its stride in the second set, swinging efficiently and limiting errors. Behind strong play from Johnson and Birmingham, Green Bay took control and rolled to a 25-17 win.
SET 3 | Green Bay dominated the third set from start to finish, using a 10-2 run to seize momentum early. The Phoenix defense held Cleveland State to a .000 hitting percentage in the frame, finishing off the sweep 25-12.
