Koning's 23 Kills Leads Green Bay Past Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Friday evening, the Green Bay volleyball team took down Oakland in four sets (27-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-22) at the OU Credit Union O'rena, racking up their third straight win. The Phoenix is now 6-2 in Horizon League play.

Green Bay leaned on a balanced offensive attack and timely defense to secure the win. Gillian Koning paced the Phoenix with 23 kills (career-high), followed by Diane Pichelman's 14 kills. Emma Johnson orchestrated the offense with 46 assists, while Emma Best led the backcourt with 22 digs.

For Oakland, Libby Smith delivered a team-high 17 kills, and Molly Reck added 16 kills. Setter Delaney Stern tallied 46 assists, matching Johnson's total. Lyse Bates anchored the defense with 21 digs, and Grace Cooney (3 blocks) and Caroline Moore (3 blocks) led the blocking effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The two teams traded blows in a tight opener. Green Bay managed to seize momentum late, edging out a 27-25 win.

SET 2 | Oakland responded emphatically in set two, swinging effectively and capitalizing on errors to take it 26-24 and push the match to one set apiece.

SET 3 | In the third stanza, Green Bay regrouped. After falling behind mid-set, they methodically clawed back, taking advantage of key errors, and delivered a 25-23 win to regain control.

SET 4 | With the pressure on, Green Bay delivered in the fourth. A consistent attack and solid defense sealed the 25-22 set victory and the match. GB finished with a match-high 18 kills in the fourth set.
