Kayla Karius to Speak at Women & Sports Leadership Panel on Tuesday, Oct. 28

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Next Tuesday, prior to the Green Bay volleyball team's Horizon League matchup with Milwaukee, the Schreiber Institute for Women's Leadership is hosting a panel on Women & Sports Leadership. The panel will take place in the Kress Events Center Special Events room at 5 p.m., with the volleyball match following at 6 p.m.

Among the panelists is Green Bay women's basketball coach Kayla Karius, who will speak to her role as a leader with the Phoenix Basketball team. Other panelists include Michelle Melby, a Fox 11 News Anchor, Dawn Crim, Ph.D., the Vice Chancellor of Advancement and Community Engagement at UW-Green Bay, and Teddi Macht Mikula, retired consultant currently working part time at Ansible Government Solutions. The panel discussion is free and will be moderated by Pa Lee Moua, Ph.D., Executive Director, Institute for Women's Leadership.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS
Karius enters her second season as the Phoenix head coach after winning the Horizon League and leading Green Bay to its 20th NCAA Tournament appearance in her first season. Karius led the charge, replenishing the Phoenix roster this offseason, bringing in eight newcomers to help replace 85-percent of the 2024-25 team's minutes and points. She spent two seasons as the Head Coach at South Dakota before returning to her alma mater to take the mantle as the leader of the storied Phoenix program.

Michelle Melby is a main news anchor at FOX 11-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she has been a dependable face of the news for 17 years.   She anchors the 5, 9, and 10pm shows.  As a veteran journalist, she has helped cover some of the region's biggest events, including political elections, breaking news stories, and major sporting events like the Super Bowl and World Series. Her experience has made her a crucial member of a team that viewers in northeast Wisconsin have come to rely on. She loves meeting new people and helping them tell their stories.

Dawn Crim, Ph.D., serves as the Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Community Engagement at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She previously served as an internal consultant in the Office of Human Resources at UW-Madison. Crim has demonstrated effective leadership and extensive managerial skills throughout a 30-year career in state government and higher education administration.

Teddi Macht Mikula is a dynamic leader with more than 25 years of experience in healthcare operations, program and project management, and business transformation. Prior to her retirement, Mikula served as the Senior Vice President for Customer Value Partners. She also served as Vice President at Atlas Research.
