Stark’s Game Winner Helps Phoenix Win Third Game in a Row

Green Bay Downed Cleveland State 1-0

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay women's soccer team won its third game in a row on Saturday, 1-0 over Cleveland State. The Phoenix improved to 6-7-4 for the year and 4-2-3 in Horizon League play. Green Bay now has 15 points in league play and is in a prime position to secure a Horizon League Championships spot.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The match remained scoreless early, with the first 29 minutes of play seeing the Phoenix out shoot the Vikings six shots to four. Green Bay would break the scoreless tie in the 30th minute, as a yellow card on Cleveland State's Nikolina Miskovic led to a free kick by Laney Stark, which she struck into the back of the Vikings' net to make it 1-0. The Phoenix piled on 14 shots in the first half alone to the Vikings' four as they entered the locker room without facing a single shot on goal from the Cleveland State offense.

The Vikings were able to stabilize in the second half, with both teams registering five shots. However, Cleveland State's shots once again all missed the mark, and the Phoenix was able to close out the win.

GAME NOTES

GB improves to 5-0-1 in its last six games versus CSU.
GB out shot CSU 19-9 and had three shots on goal to CSU's zero.
Laney Stark's third goal moves her to second on the Phoenix behind Senah Hanes.
The Stark goal was the first game-winner of her collegiate career.
Goalkeeper Anna Scott improves to 4-0-2 in her last six games.

GB will close out the regular season on the road as they head to Milwaukee to take on the Panthers on Wednesday, with kick-off slated for 7 p.m. CT.
