OXFORD, Ohio -The Green Bay women's basketball team wrapped up nonconference play on Saturday, falling at Miami (OH) 66-50.
The Phoenix (8-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Jenna Guyer, who had 12 points. Kristina Ouimette tacked on 11 points off the bench, and Maddy Skorupski added five points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Miami (OH) had four players in double figures, led by 20 points and five rebounds by Ilse de Vries.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 2-0, Green Bay quickly went on an 8-0 run culminating in a bucket from Guyer, to take an 8-2 lead. The Phoenix then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered the quarter break with an 18-11 advantage. Green Bay relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down four shots from deep to account for 12 of its 18 points.
The Phoenix surrendered their lead in the second quarter before a Julianna Ouimette layup tied the game, entering halftime with the score tied 24-24. The Phoenix offense struggled to get going in the second quarter, being outscored by the Redhawks 13-6.
Miami (OH) used that second-quarter momentum in the third quarter, once again outscoring the Phoenix 24-16 to take a 48-40 lead into the final quarter.
The Redhawks kept the ride rolling, outscoring GB 18-10 in the fourth to secure the 66-50 win.

» The Phoenix shared the ball well, recording an assist on 80-percent of made field goals.
» Green Bay held Miami to 17 percent from beyond the arc on 18 attempts.

Green Bay will return to the Horizon League season on Tuesday, Dec. 30, when they travel to Dayton, Ohio, to take on Wright State at 6 p.m. CST.
