GREEN BAY, Wis. – Another week, another Phoenix Weekly delivered by
Capital Credit Union! The Phoenix golf teams are competing at the Horizon League Championships this weekend, while softball is back hosting games at King Park, welcoming Youngstown State for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
WEEK IN REVIEW
MEN'S GOLF
The Green Bay men's golf finished eighth at the Wright State Invitational on Monday. Wright State took home first out of 12 teams.
There were razor-thin margins from fourth place to ninth place in the event. The Phoenix shot an 854 (+2) as a team. Findlay finished fourth, shooting -2, while Youngstown State finished in ninth with a +4.
Mason Haupt led the Phoenix individually and
finished the weekend at -4 after a six-under-par round on Monday (65). Haupt finished in seventh place, eight shots behind Wright State's Timmy Hollenbeck, who won the event.
Yinta Yang came in second for Green Bay, shooting +2 across the three rounds to finish 32nd individually.
Trent Meyer finished +4 for 41st and
Max Reis shot +12 to finish 71st.
Three other Phoenix competed over the weekend, with Logan Suter finishing 53rd with a +7,
Brett Wieland finishing 64th with a +10, and
Logan Pechinski finishing 67th with a +11.

WOMEN'S GOLF
On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay women's golf team finished second at the Lady Jaguar Invitational hosted by IU Indy. Butler won the event, edging out the Phoenix by six shots.
As a team, the Phoenix shot 623 (+47), while Butler shot 617 (+41). Marian (IN) and IU Indy rounded out the top four, shooting 625 (+49) and 644 (+68) respectively.
Riley Pechinski was outstanding on the weekend, especially on Sunday when she fired
off an even-par round. She finished second individually at +3, just three shots behind DePauw's Becky Williams. Ellie Frisch and
Caylie Kotlowski were also strong,
both shooting 159 (+15) across the two rounds. Jordan Shipshock rounded out the scoring for GB, shooting 162 (+18) for 25th place.
Lexi Meaden was not far behind, firing off a 164 (+20) that tied for 28th.

SOFTBALL
Green Bay has gone 0-5 in the past week, dropping three to Cleveland State this past weekend before dropping a doubleheader at St. Thomas on Tuesday. GB has been outscored 6-27 across the five games.

The Phoenix will look to get back in the win column this weekend against Youngstown State. Game one will be on Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon.
OTHER HAPPENINGS
Last week, Maddy Schreiber was selected as a Horizon League Winter Scholar-Athlete. Cleveland State's Jackson Nester was selected on the men's side. Schreiber is a four-time member of the Dean's list, most recently achieving the highest honors. She was rewarded for her academic excellence earlier this season by the Horizon League, earning All-Academic Team honors. The Appleton, Wisconsin native was also tabbed to the Horizon League All-League First Team in 2025 and All-League Second Team in 2024.

Green Bay Athletics officially
