Allen and O'Hara Lead the Way as Green Bay Staves Off Milwaukee Second-Half Comeback

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay men's basketball team staved off a second-half comeback from Milwaukee, defeating the Panthers 79-76 Monday night at the Kress Center. Green Bay led by as much as 21, and entered halftime with a 46-32 advantage.

Justin Allen had 21 points to lead the Phoenix (8-8, 3-2). C.J. O'Hara helped out with 19 points, and LeBron Thomas chipped in with 12 points off the bench.

Danilo Jovanovich paced Milwaukee (7-9, 3-2) with 19 points. Isaiah Dorceus added 14 points, including four threes. Chandler Jackson, Esyah Pippa-White, and Amar Augillard also contributed with 10 points apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, finished off by a Marcus Hall free throw with 16:57 left in the first half. The Phoenix made the first nine field goals they attempted, giving themselves a 22-9 lead with 12:54 to go in the half. Green Bay expanded its lead to 42-21 after a LeBron Thomas three-point play at 6:01. Milwaukee fought back and went on an 11-4 run to end the half, cutting the Phoenix lead to 46-32.
 


The Panthers were on fire to start the second half, outscoring Green Bay 27-9 to start to give themselves a 59-55 lead with 8:42 remaining in the game. The teams traded baskets before Preston Ruedinger drilled a crucial three, giving the Phoenix a 70-67 lead with 3:23 to go. GB led the rest of the way, converting on five of six free throws down the stretch to ice the game. Dorceus couldn't connect on a last-second three, giving Green Bay the 79-76 win.

» Green Bay shot 62.2-percent from the field compared to Milwaukee's 50-percent.
» Milwaukee converted 10-22 threes, as Green Bay went 3-9.
» Green Bay got five rebounds from both C.J. O'Hara and Ramel Bethea.
» Milwaukee outrebounded the Phoenix 27-24, including 9-3 offensively.
» The Phoenix has exceeded its 2024-25 Horizon League win total in just five league games.

Green Bay has a pair of home games this weekend, starting with IU Indy on Friday at 6 p.m. CST, followed by Northern Kentucky on Sunday at 1 p.m. CST.
