HOW IT HAPPENED
After jumping out to a 13-11 advantage, Green Bay went on a 7-0 run with 2:21 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Skorupski, to increase its lead to 20-11, a score that would hold for the rest of the period. Green Bay did most of its first-quarter damage in the paint, scoring 12 of its 20 points close to the basket.
The Norse responded with a dominant second quarter, outscoring Green Bay 24-12 and taking a 35-32 lead into the break. A 12-0 Norse run through the middle of the quarter fueled the lead change.
Northern Kentucky continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 40-36 advantage before Green Bay went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Skorupski, to grab a 41-40 lead with 5:43 to go in the third. However, Northern Kentucky responded by outscoring the Phoenix 14-4 in the remainder of the quarter, taking a 54-45 lead into the final quarter.
The visitors put the game away early in the fourth, going on a 13-2 run to start the frame to make it 67-47. That deficit proved to be too much to overcome for GB, as the Norse cruised to the 77-59 win.
