GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay dropped a non-conference doubleheader to St. Thomas, losing 10-4 and 10-7 on Monday.
GAME 1 | St. Thomas 10, Green Bay 4
Megan Weiss (1-2) got the ball to start for Green Bay and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
St. Thomas scored five runs in the first inning, including a grand slam from Kameron Monson, jumping out to an early 5-0 lead. The Tommies added another run at the top of the third before Bella Herman scored Jenna Redders in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 6-1.
Emma Krueger hit a leadoff home run off of Mya Tautges, which brought the score to 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Green Bay kept the Tommies off the board before narrowing the gap to 6-4 in the fifth. The Phoenix added two runs with a run-scoring double from Paige Guse and an RBI single from Sidney LaMotte. The Phoenix was unable to get any closer, as St. Thomas added four runs in the final two innings, rallying to a 10-4 final.

Paeton Kringel (2-5) started for the Phoenix (12-28) and took the loss, pitching 4.2 innings, giving up six runs, two earned, on 11 hits, while recording two strikeouts.
Offensively, the Phoenix were paced by LaMotte, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk, and two RBIs. Sara Ebner put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Herman also helped out for Green Bay, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
St. Thomas scored two runs in the top of the second inning to open up the scoring for the game. The Tommies' added four runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to take a convincing 10-0 lead.
Trailing 10-0, the Phoenix chipped into the Tommies' lead, putting up four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Ebner.
The Phoenix kept the deficit at 10-4 before continuing to close the gap in the seventh inning. Green Bay scored three runs in the frame, including a two-run homer from Lamotte, which tightened the Tommies' lead to 10-7. Ava Cook came into the game for St. Thomas and ended the Phoenix threat in the final inning, striking out Claire Coushman to end the game.
GAME NOTES
» Green Bay's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed four runs across.
» St. Thomas was led offensively by Ruby Moore, who went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.
COMING UP
Green Bay will host Oakland for its final series of the regular season this weekend, with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m. CST, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon CST.
