GREEN BAY, WI -- Green Bay shut out Detroit Mercy 1-0 Thursday at home at Aldo Santaga Stadium. The victory improved Green Bay's record to 7-0-2 overall and 2-0 in Horizon play.

"Tonight was a very difficult match…I give a ton of credit to Detroit who I thought played extremely well" said head coach Matt Kagan. "But our character is what makes this team so special. And we continued to claw and found a way to put the ball in the back of the net…we got some key contributions off the bench as well!"

How it Happened

Green Bay were the aggressors in the first half, outshooting Detroit Mercy six shots to zero, however three saved by the Titans held the score 0-0 through the first 45 minutes. A Bella Brozek shot grazed the post setting up an Aixa Helbringer-Escobar corner. The corner fell just shy of the net, and as both teams scrambled for the loose ball, Rebecca Stoeckmann notched her first goal of the season unassisted in the 80th minute to move Green Bay in front to break the scoreless stalemate. Detroit managed one more shot in the 83rd minute before the Phoenix possessed the ball the rest of the game to clinch the win.

Anna Scott totaled one save for the Phoenix out of three total Titans shots.

This is Green Bay's first win against UDM since Oct. 2, 2021, also a 1-0 home win. The Phoenix tied twice and lost twice in between.
Green Bay women's soccer is off to a 2-0 start in conference play for the first time since the 2003 season.

COMING UP
Green Bay will look to continue their historic start to 2026 as they host Oakland in their third Horizon League match of the season on Sunday, Sep. 27, scheduled for a 1 p.m. CST kick-off.
