WEEK IN REVIEW
MEN'S BASKETBALL
A hot start for the Green Bay men's basketball team wasn't enough, as the Robert Morris Colonials used a 28-0 run out of the halftime break to turn the tide of the game and take it 89-67 last Friday night. After jumping out to a 16-10 advantage, Green Bay went on a 9-0 run with 14:24 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Hall, to increase its lead to 27-10, the largest of the game. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half, with the Phoenix heading into the break with a 45-40 lead.
Â
A 28-0 run out of the locker room gave the Colonials a 68-45 lead before Green Bay got on the board in the second half. The visitors cruised to victory the rest of the way, securing the 89-67 win.
Â
On Sunday afternoon against Youngstown State, the Green & White started the second half hot, going on an 8-1 run in the first three minutes of the second half to take a 39-30 lead. After a pair of made free throws fromÂ
Marcus Hall with 9:36 to go, the Phoenix led by a score of 59-48. That 11-point lead didn't last long, as a 10-2 Penguin run brought the game back to within three. From there, the two teams traded baskets down the stretch and YSU came out the victor, 73-69.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Green Bay women's basketball team dominated in a 70-47 win over the Detroit Mercy Titans at the Kress Center last Thursday night. There was another historic anecdote left on Carol's Court, asÂ
Jasmine Kondrakiewicz became the 40th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. GB stymied the Titans for just seven points in the second quarter and has solid offensive efforts from Schiltz, Genke, and McNeal. The trio combined for 23 of GB's 36 first-half points and helped the Phoenix command a 36-23 lead at the break. Green Bay exploded in the final stanza, racking up 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Kondrakiewicz scored nine points in the frame, scoring her 1,000th career point on a layup with 4:40 remaining in regulation. The Phoenix pulled away and cruised to a 70-47 victory.
Â
Callie Genke racked up a season-high 22 points to help the Green Bay women's basketball team defeat Oakland 69-39 on Saturday afternoon. Green Bay played exceptionally in the second frame, shooting 8-of-13 as a team. The Phoenix defense held Oakland's offense for just 1-of-9 shooting and four points in the stanza, entering the halftime break with a 35-18 advantage. GB again played solid defense in the fourth period, holding Oakland to just 3-of-15 from the field. A layup by Schiltz with 3:35 remaining in regulation extended the lead to 30, which ended up being the difference on the scoreboard as Green Bay blew out Oakland 69-39.
Jasmine Kondrakiewicz has been announced as part of the 2025 class of the "
So You Want To Be A Coach" Program, led by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association). Called the "So" program for short, it helps increase the application of skills necessary to secure coaching positions across women's basketball. It also connects current female basketball players to coaches and administrators and increases understanding and awareness of competencies essential for success in coaching. Each student-athlete will participate in the two-day workshop on April 3 and 4 during the WBCA Convention in Tampa.
Â
SOFTBALL
The start of the college softball season is under a month away, and the Green Bay softball team and head coachÂ
Sara Kubuske have announced the
full 2025 schedule. Green Bay will start the season at the Rosemont Tournament in Rosemont, Illinois from February 7-9.
Â
The Phoenix will have a new-looking roster for the 2025 season, welcoming 13 newcomers to go along with their 13 returners. The new Phoenix consists of eight freshmen and five transfers.
Â
"We are looking forward to the 2025 slate and the opportunities presented," Kubuske said. "Between a combination of 13 new faces, three players returning from medical redshirts, and some young players who got experience last year, I look forward to seeing how we embrace each challenge. I believe our non-conference portion will prepare us well for the Horizon League and I am looking forward to getting underway with this group!"
