guard Celeste Hoewisch (Hortonville, Wis.) and junior forward Kayla Tetschlag
(Sheboygan, Wis.) have been named to the women's basketball preseason
All-League team for the Horizon League.
Hoewisch, who was selected to the first team all-league, is
the lone returning starter to this year's line-up for the Phoenix. Last season she
led the team with 80 steals (#10 on individual season record list) and was
fourth in the Horizon League.
Tetschlag, who was selected to the second team all-league,
appeared in the starting line-up twice while playing in all 33 games. She was
also voted the Horizon League Sixth Player of the Year and finished the season
scoring at least 12 points per contest in the final two games of the season.
Cleveland State senior Kailey Klein was named the Preseason
Player of the Year after receiving 258 points and 25 of 31 Player-of-the-Year
votes. At the conclusion of last season Klein was named Co-Player of the Year.
As a team, Green Bay was picked first in the preseason
standings released yesterday. Green Bay received 19 first place votes with the
expectation of winning their 12th straight Horizon League regular
season title.
Green Bay begins play with an exhibition game on Sat., Oct.
31 as they host cross-town competitor St. Norbert at 2 p.m. Their final
exhibition game will be against UW-Parkside on Nov. 7 with tip off at noon at
the Kress Events Center.
