SAN
DIEGO, CA - The Green Bay (4-0-2) men's soccer team
wrapped up their five-game road trip Friday afternoon as they came from behind
to finish with a 2-2 tie against San Diego State (1-2-2).
The Aztecs struck first when a shot from Morgan Sacco
got past goalie Ryan Wehking (St. Louis, Mo.) for the 1-0 lead less than nine
minutes into the game.
Green Bay tied it up (1-1) during the 25th
minute when senior David Znaty (Hadera, Israel) got one between the pipes for
his second goal of the season. Unfortunately for the Phoenix San Diego State
answered when Raymundo Reza kicked one into the left corner from 15 yards out
to give the Aztecs the 2-1 lead at halftime.
The Phoenix led the Aztecs 3-1 in corner kicks for the
half, while San Diego State outshot Green Bay 7-6.
Half way through the second half, two-time Horizon
League Player of the Week JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) broke through the right
side of the field to score his fifth goal of the season and tie the game 2-2.
Banks' goal forced two overtime periods with the Aztecs and the Phoenix had to
settle for their second tie of the season.
Green Bay will now look to their second home game of
the season when they host North Florida on Monday night at 7p.m. at Aldo
Santaga Stadium.
