Green Bay, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay men's soccer alum
Tosaint Ricketts (Edmonton, Alberta) has signed a three and a half year
professional contract with Politehnica Timisoara in Romania.
"Tos has worked hard to continue to improve his game at Mypa in the Finnish League
and has done really well," said Green Bay head coach Tom Poitras. "This is a great opportunity for him to continue to
better himself as a young professional player and as a person."
Ricketts played for the Phoenix
from 2005-08 while leading his team in goals (8) and points (18) his senior
season. Green Bay was 40-28-11 while Ricketts was a member of the team.
Ricketts was a two-time First Team All-League selection after being a Second
Team selection his sophomore year.
Ricketts joined Veikkausliiga
club MyPa
in 2009 and was formerly on trial with Hammarby IF.
He made his debut on March 4, 2009 and scored his first goal against Kuopion Palloseura on June 13. He scored two
goals in Europa League against Politehnica Timişoara, who Ricketts will
play for the next three and a half years.
"I'm glad I signed with
Poli, to me is a step forward in my career. I can't wait to play at my new team
and I can't wait to reunite "Poli" fans, which impressed me when I
played here in Europa League with MyPa-47," said Ricketts at his
press conference.
