DAYTON, Ohio. - The
Green Bay (20-17, 6-11) softball team wrapped up its six-game road stretch with
an 11-2 loss at Wright State (20-24-1, 11-7) Sunday morning.
Wright State scored a pair of runs in the first and second
innings before Green Bay got on the board in the top of the third thanks to an
RBI by Melani Niederer (New Munster, Wis.) up the middle scoring Jenna Nitti
(Green Bay, Wis.).
With two outs Katie Cooney (East Moline, Ill.) hit an RBI
single to right field scoring Niederer to cut the Raiders lead in half (4-2).
That's as close as Green Bay would get as Wright State led
off the bottom of the third inning with a home run to left center field before
adding an unearned run to close out the inning with the 6-2 advantage.
The Raiders poured in five more runs in the bottom of the
fourth to seal the victory and win the three-game series finale in five
innings.
The Phoenix finished the game with two runs off four hits
and two errors as the Raiders finished with 11 runs off 12 hits and one error.
Green Bay will play
its last eight regular season games at home beginning Tuesday as they host
North Dakota in a double-header at 2 p.m.
