MACOMB, Ill. - Green Bay (14-8) traveled to Illinois where they split a double-header against Western Illinois (19-12) Saturday afternoon.

In game one at McKee Stadium Green Bay held Western Illinois to just one hit through five innings of play thanks to solid pitching from freshman Tieraney Planasch (Juneau, Wis.).

With one out in the bottom of the sixth, the Leathernecks had an RBI double scoring three runs before following up with an RBI to score a total of four runs off four hits. Green Bay's rally in the seventh fell short as the Phoenix got just one hit with two outs.

Green finished game one with four hits and one error while Planasch falls to 1-1 at the mound for the Phoenix.

The Phoenix scored eight runs off 12 hits to defeat the Leathernecks 8-5 in game two. Green Bay scored seven runs in the second before adding one more in the seventh while Alli Rivera (Geneseo, Ill.) had three hits off four plate appearances with two RBIs and one homerun.

After going three up and three down in the first, the Leathernecks scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 2-0. Katie Cooney (East Moline, Ill.) put the Phoenix on the board after scoring off a wild pitch while Danielle Peerenboom (Appleton, Wis.) followed up with an RBI single to center field scoring Sara Junion (Sevastopol, Wis.) to tie the game 2-2.

Krissy Hanson (Arcadia, Wis.) added an RBI double to right center field to give the Phoenix the lead for good. Green Bay finished the inning scoring seven runs off nine hits and led 7-2 before WIU added three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Rivera led the Phoenix off with a solo homerun in the seventh inning as Cooney got the win to improve to 3-5 on the season.

Green Bay will continue conference play on the road in Detroit playing three games against the Titans April 10-11.
