BOCA RATON, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to Lynn University at the Perper Tennis Complex on Wednesday in the second of three spring break matches in Florida. The Phoenix fell to 9-4 on the year with the defeat, while the No. 5 (Division II) Fighting Knights improved to 11-1.

The Phoenix split the six singles bouts with the Knights, but the hosts nabbed two of the three doubles matches to earn the 5-4 result.

Green Bay's nationally-ranked doubles team of Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) and Felix Goepper (Seelbach, Germany) dropped their first contest as a ranked duo, falling 8-4 at the No. 1 spot to Lynn's Willi Wolfer and Vlad Cirla. The Phoenix freshman earned the school's first national ranking on Tuesday when it was announced that they were 61st among Division I pairs partners.

The Phoenix picked up its first point of the match at the No. 2 doubles spot when juniors Craig Cox (Surrey, England) and Erik Finkenbrink (Duelman, Germany) posted an 8-4 win over Amaury Van Haelen and Max Kouyate. Lynn took the advantage, however, with a powerful 8-1 victory at No. 3.

Tenzer and Goepper both rebounded in singles action to earn straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 4. Tenzer downed Kouyate 6-2, 6-1 and Goepper knocked off Van Haelen 6-4, 6-1. Christoph Hopfe (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) was the only other Phoenix player that was able to win a singles contest, picking up a come-from-behind (3-6, 7-5, 10-6) victory over George Laffey at No. 6.

The Phoenix was Lynn's second Division I victim of the day, as the Knights also defeated Monmouth 5-0 earlier on Wednesday.

Green Bay concludes its spring break trip on Thursday with a 2 p.m. meeting with Abraham Baldwin in Orlando.
