Chicago, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay men's tennis team grabbed a victory this afternoon against Chicago State to begin this weekend's road trip by the final score of 5-2.
The Phoenix secured the doubles point to begin the match. The pairing of freshman
Satchel Benn and senior
Lachlan Napier won No. 2 doubles by the final score of 6-3, followed by junior
George Botha and sophomoreÂ
Dipin Wadhwa winning No. 1 doubles 6-3 as well.
Wadhwa then gave Green Bay the 2-0 lead with a victory in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Chicago State took No. 1 singles before junior Teddy Razafindratsma won No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-4, to grow the Phoenix's lead to 3-1.
Lachlan Napier officially claimed the match for Green Bay by winning No. 6 singles 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Satchel Benn earned the squad their fifth and final point with a victory in No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
"It was great to see the guys get back into the win column," stated head coach Rob Oertel. "It wasn't necessarily pretty but a win is a win and I'm proud of the effort and grit shown today."
