GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - A balanced offensive attack led by Miranda Reinke (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Paige Newtols propelled Green Bay (15-17, 4-5 HL) to an 11-3, five-inning rout of visiting Butler (16-25, 6-6) in the finale of a three-game Horizon League softball series at Ben Garot Field. The Phoenix spread 13 hits among eight players to win its first home series, 2-1.

Reinke went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI while Newtols blasted a long, three-run home run to left field as part of a six-run fourth inning. Her second home run of 2012 helped Newtols finish 2-for-4 with a run and four RBI.

Stacey Butts (Greenfield, Wis.) and Amanda Omahen (San Diego, Calif.) each added 2-for-2 efforts at the plate for the Phoenix. Butts, who had two RBI, started the scoring with an RBI single as Green Bay took a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Omahen has hits in six consecutive at-bats and finished the series 7-for-8 with four runs and four RBI.

Butler overcame the early deficit to lead 3-2 after the top of the third inning, but Ashley Nannemann (Burlington, Wis.) relieved Allison Goecks (Beloit, Wis.) on the mound and shut down the Bulldog bats the rest of the way. Nannemann did not allow a baserunner in 2.1 innings of hitless relief, striking out three in the process to earn the win and improve to 9-8 on the season.

The Phoenix took the lead for good in the bottom of the third, with Reinke's RBI double and an RBI single from Newtols helping the cause. An inning later, Green Bay sent 10 hitters to the plate and scored six runs on seven hits, including a two-run single from Reinke and Newtols' long home run.

Green Bay returns to action on Wednesday, hosting the first two games of a three-game series with Loyola. Game one will get underway at 2 p.m. as the Phoenix continue a season-long nine-game homestand.
