CLEARWATER, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay softball team continued its season in Florida this afternoon, opening play in the Under Armour Showcase against Quinnipiac and Army West Point. The Phoenix (5-15) earned a convincing 7-1 win over the Bobcats (5-6) in Game One, followed by a loss to the Black Knights (9-8) in Game Two, 6-5.
Green Bay (5-15) will play two more contests tomorrow against the Maine Black Bears (4-2) and Iona Gaels (2-6). Start times will be at approximately 3:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. CT, respectively.
Game 1: Green Bay 7, Quinnipiac 1
After trailing 1-0 early, the Phoenix scored seven unanswered runs over the final innings to down the Bobcats for the second time this season. Green Bay beat Quinnipiac on Feb. 21, 5-3, to conclude the Total Control Invitational in Rosemount, Ill.

Game 2: Army 6, Green Bay 5
Both teams traded single tallies in the second and third innings, until seven of the game's 11 runs came across in the fourth.

Allie Taylor led off the inning with her team-leading fifth home run off Black Knight's starter Kristen West. Mere pitches later, freshman
Brennan Engel went back-to-back with Taylor for her first career home run to put the Phoenix up a pair, 3-1.
Army answered with five runs on five hits in the very next frame; however, a lead that would hold until the top of the 7th, when Green Bay got its third home run of the game from sophomore
Allie Hislope, a two-run shot, with no outs. Following a
Hailee Frey walk, the Black Knights brought in the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week, closer Renee Poirer, who retired the side to end it.
