GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay and head men's soccer coach Jeremy Bonomo have agreed to a two-year contract extension through 2021, Director of Athletics Mary Ellen Gillespie announced on Thursday.
“We are excited about the future of Green Bay soccer under the leadership of Jeremy Bonomo. He has created a vision for elevating our program on the field, off the field and in the classroom and it is working. He is exactly the right person to be leading our young men,” Gillespie said.
This past season, Bonomo led the Phoenix back to the Horizon League Tournament and a to a winning league record for the first time since the 2011 season. Under Bonomo's direction, Audi Jepson (Second Team All-League, 2015) and Andre Baires (Second Team All-League, All-Freshman Team, 2016) garnered league honors, while ranking second in the league in goals allowed in 2016.
“I would like to thank Mary Ellen Gillespie and Chancellor Miller for their continued support and confidence. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead the Green Bay men's program for the foreseeable future. I would also like to thank the rest of the coaching staff, John O'Reilly and Paul Schleinz. They've been instrumental the last two years in restoring our proud tradition,” Bonomo said.
In just his first two seasons, Bonomo has registered wins over in-state rival Milwaukee and Wisconsin, while compiling the program's longest unbeaten streak since 2011.
