GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Seven players reached double-figures and the Green Bay men's basketball team set a program record with 26 steals, dominating Wisconsin Lutheran 110-54 in the team's regular season opener at the Kress Center on Tuesday afternoon. The 110 points scored by the Phoenix (1-0) is the ninth-highest single game point total in team history, and the 26 steals bests the previous mark of 22 set back in both 2015 and 2016. The team now looks ahead to a home game with Indiana State and a visit to Iowa this coming weekend, as the schedule strengthens.
TJ Parham and
Manny Patterson each scored 14 points in the winning effort, two of seven players to score 10 or more points. In their first official games as members of the Phoenix, ShanQuan Hemphill (13 points),
Jevon Smith (10 points) and
JayQuan McCloud (10 points) were all able to reach double-figures.
Sandy Cohen III (12 points) and
Hunter Crist (10 points) also recorded double-figure scoring efforts.
GB will look to go 2-0 when it hosts the Sycamores on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Kress Center for a Bud Light Happy Hour special game. Indiana State opens with Ball State on Tuesday night.
