EAST LANSING, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay ran into a virtual no-win situation on Sunday afternoon, visiting 9th-ranked Michigan State on just one-day rest, while the Spartans had nine days off prior to the 104-83 final score at the Breslin Center. The Phoenix actually led 24-20 in the first half, but MSU answered with a 27-4 run that put the game away.
GB (6-6) actually outscored the Spartans (9-2) 48-40 the second half, despite being down by 29 points at halftime. The team continued to fight, led by senior
Sandy Cohen III who finished with a season-high 22 points.
JayQuan McCloud added 17 points, while
Kameron Hankerson (11 points) and
Manny Patterson (10 points) also finished in double-figures.
Green Bay will play one more nonconference game and continue its four-game road trip when it visits Evansville on Saturday. The Phoenix and Purple Aces will tip at 4 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
