Green Bay's Friday Doubleheader with Wright State Moved to St. Norbert

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay softball team (5-12) will begin Horizon League play this weekend, hosting a three-game series against the Wright State Raiders (12-17, 0-3 HL) with Friday's doubleheader being played at St. Norbert and Saturday's matchup slated for Circle Tap. This will mark the first time the Phoenix has been able to play a true home game in two years.

Schedule
Friday, March 29 (Mel Nicks Sports Complex)
·        11:00 a.m.
·        1:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 30 (Circle Tap)
·        12:00 p.m.

The series will begin with a doubleheader on Friday at St. Norbert at the Mel Nicks Sports Complex, with the first pitch being thrown at 11:00 a.m. The team will turn around for the second game at 1:00 p.m. The series will conclude Saturday, March 30 at Circle Tap with the first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.

What to Expect
At bat, Green Bay is led by Bailey Schultz and Kalyssa Koehn. Schultz, a junior, holds the highest batting average of .375, 56 at-bats, 21 hits and 7 runs over all 17 games. Koehn, a sophomore, has notched two home runs and has 7 RBIs. Sophomore Kayla Schwebke is at the helm of the pitching staff with a 3.82 earned run average and a 4-3 record.

Most recently, the Phoenix were defeated by Kansas in a three-game series, but earlier in the season Green Bay impressively took down Big Ten member Iowa 6-4, proving that they have the ability to be a force in the Horizon League this season.

Wright State has amassed a higher overall win percentage so far this season, but were swept by Detroit Mercy in their conference opener last weekend. Rebekah Lenos is their top hitter with a batting average of .343, 70 at-bats, 24 hits and 20 runs throughout 27 games, while Madison Whitaker's 20 RBIs over 23 games may also be a threat. On the mound for the Raiders should be Olivia Otani, with an earned run average of 3.75 and a 5-8 record.
