GREEN BAY (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Sandy Cohen III wore his cape once again for Green Bay, knocking down the game-winning jumper with 1.5 seconds left in overtime to send his team to the CIT Championship game on Thursday night at Marshall with an 87-86 win over Texas Southern. Cohen finished with a game-high 23 points, and scored his 1,000th career point as well, while
Trevian Bell continued his impressive postseason with a career-high 21 points.
GB led 76-74 with a minute left in regulation, but Texas Southern scored with 7 seconds left to tie it up.
Kameron Hankerson drove to the basket with the clock winding down and appeared to be fouled, but no call was made and the game went to OT. That's when Cohen answered the Tigers with the game-winner, before TSU's last chance 3/4 court effort sailed wide of the mark.
For the third time in four games, the Phoenix (21-16) shot above 50 percent (38-70, 54.3 percent) from the field.
Green Bay will now take on Marshall (22-14) on Thursday night at a time to be announced. The game will be played at the Henderson Center in Huntington, West Virginia.
