INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- A win is a win, but Green Bay's 91-85 win at IUPUI  on Thursday morning means a little bit more. Snapping a six-game losing skid to the Jaguars (6-19, 2-10 HL) and earning its first win over them since they joined the Horizon League, the Phoenix (12-13, 7-5 HL) blew the game open in the first half before holding off a late rally at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Playing the visitor role on IUPUI's "Readers are Leaders" day with over 2,000 local elementary students in attendance, GB led by as many as 25 points in the first half before taking a 20-point lead into the break. Five players finished in double-figures, led by freshman
Amari Davis' 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting. Davis wasn't involved in the 3-point barrage, but did grab six rebounds and went 4-for-4 from the line.
The 3-point fire came from
Cody Schwartz with three makes, and
Kameron Hankerson and
PJ Pipes with a pair each. GB went 7-for-13 from deep in the first half, and used the charity stripe in the second half by going 20-for-22 from the free throw line to ice the game away. McCloud added another 20-point output to his ledger, his fifth of the season and his third in the last five games. Hankerson netted 18 points and a rebound shy of his first career double-double, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. Pipes added 10 points, hitting big 3s in the first half, while
Manny Patterson came up with big rebounds as well during the impressive run.
With the game tied at 11-11, GB used a 26-1 run to blow the game open, hitting six 3-pointers during that stretch. IUPUI would get within five points in the second half, but GB answered the bell that saw Jaylen Minnett and Marcus Burk catch fire, combining for 65 points and 10 3s.
GB has now won its last two games, and moves to 7-5 in the Horizon League before visiting UIC on Saturday afternoon. GB had not won at IUPUI since 1977.
