Most Recently for the Phoenix – Green Bay was off last week after playing five games at the WKU Hilltopper Classic the week prior.
Scouting the Eastern Illinois Panthers – Eastern Illinois will enter the weekend with a 9-8 record after already having participated in four tournaments early on in the season. The Panthers are off to a good start this season and they're hoping to bounce back after a 16-39 record last year. Leading the Eastern Illinois team is first-year head coach Tara Archibald. Archibald has an outstanding coaching resume dating all the way back to 2005. Most recently, she was a pitching coach at Illinois State University. Kendyl McKeough is one of the heavy hitters for the Panthers as she had 43 hits including eight doubles and five long balls last year as a sophomore. Jade Montgomery recently won her sixth game putting her at second-most in the Ohio Valley Conference and is also in the top 10 in strikeouts so she will look to quiet the opposing bats this weekend.
Scouting the Miami RedHawks – The host of the Miami Invite come into the weekend on a two game winning streak after a pair of 3-2 victories over South Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. The RedHawks are 9-6 so far and have been rolling of late winning five of their last six contests. Clarisa Crowell has seen tons of success with Miami entering this season with a 196-174 overall record and 90-61 in MAC play. Last year, Miami was 35-16 and 16-4 in league play as the RedHawks captured their first regular season title in program history. Pitching has been the key to success for Miami so far as all of their pitchers have an ERA under four. Courtney Vierstra leads the team in wins with four and has a team-leading 2.62 earned run average. Morgan Lott has 22 hits to lead the RedHawks and 11 runs scored. Jada Dotson has driven in the most runs for Miami with 13 RBIs.
