GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Noric Ski team competed at the Birkie SuperTour this past weekend in Cable, Wis.
The Phoenix raced three days in a row, Friday to Sunday, Dec. 10-12. On Friday, the team raced in the Skate 15k Mass Start.
Ryan Thieme paced the Phoenix, finishing 34
th place overall and ninth in the CCSA.
CJ Young finished shortly after in 45
th place, 16
th in the CCSA.
Declan Rodefeld wrapped up the race for GB, crossing the finish line in 60
th.
The first classic race of the season was a sprint day on Saturday. Young and Thieme both qualified for the Junior Heats and were placed in the same quarterfinal. Thieme had a strong day, winning both his quarterfinal and semifinal heats before finishing fourth overall. Young finished the day 24
th.
GB wrapped up the weekend with a Classic 15k Individual Start on Sunday. Thieme headlined the Phoenix finishes on the day, coming in 43
rd, while Young and Rodefeld came in 68
th and 88
th respectively.
