DULUTH, Minn. – The Green Bay Nordic Ski team was in action this past weekend at the College of St. Scholastica CCSA Qualifier in Duluth, Minn. at the Spirit Mountain Nordic Center. The Phoenix finished fifth with 90 total points on the weekend.

The event started with the 7.5K Classic Individual Start on Saturday. The men were led by a 23rd-place finish (19:34.7) from Ryan Thieme, a 25th-place finish (19:38.6) for Noah Erickson, and a 31st-place finish (20:11.5) for CJ Young.

On the women's side, GB was led by an 18th-place finish (23:48.7) from Hedda Samuelsson, a 19th-place finish (23:49.2) from Silje Busklein, and Grace Nemeth finishing in 31st (24:56.8) to round out the top three for the Phoenix.

The weekend was wrapped up with the 20K Freestyle Mass Start, led by a top 15 finish on the men's side from Ryan Thieme. He finished 13th with a time of 55:05.0. Grant Rocheleau and Zaine Braaten followed that up with 23rd and 27th-place finishes. The strong finishes from Rocheleau and Braaten scored points for Green Bay, the first time they've done so as Phoenix.

Samuelsson led the women again on Sunday, crossing the finish line in 1:07:45.0 for a 20th-place finish. Kiera Rotar was the second Phoenix to finish, coming in 26th with a time of 1:10:15.4. Chelsey Johnson rounded out the GB top three with a time of 1:15:28.2 for a 31st-place finish.

Green Bay will have a weekend off before heading to the CCSA Conference Championships on Feb. 15-16 at Tech Trails in Houghton, Mich. The event will be hosted by Michigan Tech.
