GREEN BAY'S LAST TIME OUT
The Green Bay softball team earned a hard-fought split in its mid-week matchup at IUPUI Tuesday, taking the first game of the day, 3-2, before falling to the hosts 6-4. Game one was a closely contested match-up, but Green Bay's three-run fourth inning proved to be the difference, as the Phoenix emerged victorious, beating the Jaguars 3-2. Junior Kayla Schwebke (6-3) got the win for Green Bay (10-6, 6-3). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing six walks and striking out five. In game two the Phoenix was able to pick up eight hits in the ballgame and out-hit IUPUI,  but Green Bay was unable to push across more runs, as the Phoenix fell to the Jaguars 6-4 Tuesday.

HOME SWEET HOME
Green Bay enjoyed its long-awaited homecoming last weekend, as the Phoenix opened King Park and played on the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay's campus for the first time in four years. GB played with an extra edge within the confines of its home diamond and took the series against Robert Morris, 3-1.

PITCHING PROWESS
The Phoenix pitching staff has been lights out this season, boasting a team ERA of 2.81, which ranks second in the Horizon League behind Detroit Mercy at 2.66. Opponents are hitting just .223 against GB, the lowest in the HL. Individually, Baneck (4-0) owns a 1.62 ERA with opponents hitting a league-low .168 against her. She has two complete-game shutouts, the only player in the HL with multiple CG shutouts. Kayla Schwebke has also been impressive, owning a 2.61 ERA with a 6-3 record.

SCOUTING UIC
The Flames received nine first-place votes in the #HLSB preseason poll this season, taking the top spot by and landslide. UIC enters the weekend with a 9-9 overall record combined with a 6-2 mark in Horizon League play. The Flames saw their most recent contests canceled due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Detroit Mercy program. The Chicago-based team last took the field at home against Purdue Fort Wayne and claimed a four-game sweep.

SEASON AHEAD
Green Bay will play 40 Horizon League games this season, its most-ever scheduled. GB was picked last in the Horizon League, after not playing a single HL game last season due to COVID-19 shutting the season down. That makes for extra motivation for GB in Sara Kubuske's second season.
