INDIANAPOLIS (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay's
Alexandra Zakutney was named to the #HLVB All-Academic team after impressive performances on the court and in the classroom this season.
Zakutney ranked second in the Horizon League with 3.60 kills per set and maintains a 3.93 cumulative grade-point-average. She earned a spot on the conference's first team and was honored with HL Player of the week once this season.
Recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League released its Spring 2021 Volleyball All-Academic Team on Tuesday. A total of 12 student-athletes were honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives.
Seven Horizon League institutions are represented among the honorees. Three student-athlete were chosen from Northern Kentucky while Cleveland State, Oakland and RMU each earned two selections. Green Bay, Milwaukee and UIC all had one student-athlete selected.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
