CURRENT HORIZON LEAGUE STANDINGS

LAST TIME OUT
The Phoenix dropped three games to Youngstown State this past weekend, with two of the three being decided by one run. In game one of the series, GB's offense came alive late, scoring eight runs in the final four innings before falling victim to a Penguin walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. YSU took game two 5-2, and swept the series by winning a 1-0 pitcher's duel in game three.

SERIES HISTORY
Green Bay and Robert Morris have only played each other five times, four of which came in 2020, RMU's first year in the Horizon League. The Colonials took the first game of the series back in 2008, but Green Bay has since taken the lead in the all-time series after winning three of four over RMU in 2020. Green Bay has never played at Robert Morris.

Green Bay and Cleveland State have an extensive history in the diamond. The all-time series is nearly even after 82 games, with the Vikings holding a 42-40 advantage. GB hosted Cleveland State for a four-game series a year ago, and took three of those four.

SCOUTING REPORT
On Monday, Green Bay will look to slow down Robert Morris, who is on a seven-game winning streak. The Colonials currently sit at the top of the Horizon League with a 14-3 record in league play. Oakland sits in second at 12-3. Robert Morris has one of the best offenses in the Horizon League, scoring the most runs (184) and having the second-highest batting average (.264). The Colonials are also extremely aggressive on the base paths, swiping a league-leading 51 bases on 55 attempts.

Cleveland State is another tough opponent for the Phoenix, currently sitting third in the HL with a 13-5 record. The Vikings are middle of the pack offensively, but have one of the best pitchers in the Horizon League, Melissa Holzopfel. Holzopfel has pitched 140.0 innings this year with a 3.00 ERA, and has the third-most wins in the HL with 12.

HISTORY MADE
After breaking the single season stolen bases record on April 6, senior Tiffany Giese broke the career stolen bases record at Youngstown State. Giese stole her 32nd career base on Saturday, passing Jenna Woepse, who stole 31 bases for the Phoenix from 2005-08.

A SEASON FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Although graduate transfer Alicia Peters will play just one year with the Phoenix, she is having one of the best individual seasons in Green Bay history. Peters leads the Horizon League in on base percentage (.526), slugging percentage (.863), OPS (1.389), and walks (21). If the season ended today, Peters would break the single season record for on base percentage and slugging percentage. The Chico, Calif. native is also just one home run away from tying the single season record (10).

ACE ABBY
Freshman Abigail Gawlinski has been one of the best pitchers in the Horizon League her first year with the Phoenix. In 61.2 innings pitched, Gawlinski has maintained a 2.84 ERA, the fourth-best mark in league.

THAT'S JUST JADIN
Sophomore Jadin Justman has been a crucial bat in the middle of the lineup for the Phoenix all season long. She has the sixth-highest batting average in the Horizon League (.375) and seventh in on base percentage (.424). The Horicon, Wis. native has the second-most RBI on the team (21) and is also one of two Green Bay players with an OPS over 1.000 (1.038).

NOT SO AVERAGE
Green Bay's offense has been stellar this season, and they currently lead the Horizon League with a .273 batting average. The Phoenix also ranks in the HL:
  • 1st in home runs (33)
  • 1st in slugging percentage (.439)
  • 1st in on-base percentage (.364)
  • 2nd in stolen bases (49-60)
  • 3rd in runs scored (152)
  • 3rd in RBIs (136)
