GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Phoenix Nordic Ski Team is heading into the third year under the leadership Head Coach Sam Myers. Coming off a year in 2022-23 that saw a significant increase in roster size, the Phoenix have shifted from a rebuilding program to a program that is primed for success during the 2023-24 season.

"We continue to build momentum year to year, and I am very excited with the strength of our incoming freshman class," said Sam Myers. "Every day is another opportunity to push ourselves and improve in the classroom and on the trails."

November 1 marks the official start of the "Ignite Phoenix Nordic Skiing" fundraising initiative that will run through Nov. 12. The funds raised during the initiative will go towards improving the student-athlete experience for Green Bay skiers in five key areas:

• Opportunity - Provide student-athletes with better training opportunities and race experiences. This is done through camps, non-conference races, and training resources on and off campus.
• Mental Performance Consultant - Utilize Sport Psychology to learn skills that improve mental performance.
• Race Support - Prepare skis with the best wax and equipment. Increase ski preparation efficiency with an assistant with knowledge in waxing and race preparation.
• Assistant Coach - Ability to hire an assistant coach that can devote significant time towards identifying, analyzing, and communicating with recruits and current student-athletes.
• Coach Retention - A stable coaching staff is key to building a team and environment that attracts the best talent in the nation.

The goal of 'Ignite Phoenix Nordic Skiing' is to raise $15,000 and attracting 10 new patrons. Consider donating today to help the Phoenix rise at this LINK.
