ABOUT THE RAIDERS
Led by seventh-year head coach Scott Nagy, the Raiders finished the season seventh in the Horizon League with a 10-10 conference record and 17-14 overall record. The Raiders are led on the court by Horizon League First Teamer Trey Calvin and the 2022-23 #HLMBB Freshman of the Year, Brandon Noel.
Calvin sits second in the Horizon League in scoring behind only Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis, averaging 20.3 points per game. He is extremely efficient from the floor, shooting 49.6 percent from the floor, 38.4 from three, and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. In that same vein, Noel averages 12.8 points and 8.7 rebounds on 60.8 percent shooting from the floor, which is the best mark in the Horizon League.
Despite coming in as the No. 7 seed, Wright State boasts the league's second-best offense (80.3 PPG) and the second-best scoring margin (6.5). The last time these two teams matched up in the Horizon League Tournament was on March 11, 2019, when the Phoenix fell 66-54 in the semifinals to the top-seeded Raiders. The Phoenix was down by a baker's dozen at intermission but fought back to within three during the second half. Sandy Cohen III had 13 points that day, second among all scorers, but Green Bay's comeback attempt came up short.
GB IN THE TOURNAMENT
The Phoenix is tied with Cleveland State for the eighth-most tournament titles in Horizon League history (2). Green Bay secured championships in 1994-95 and 2015-2016. Jeff Nordgaard was tabbed tournament MVP during the 1994-95 run under Dick Bennett, while Jordan Fouse garnered tournament MVP accolades after GB's title appearance in 2015-2016 under Linc Darner. The Phoenix finished as tournament runner-up in 1997-98 under Mike Heideman and 2014-2015 under Brian Wardle.
