LAST MATCHUP
Tuesday was tough for the Green Bay softball team as they fell in a doubleheader at St. Thomas 8-1 in game one and 7-1 in game two. Tiffany Giese recorded her 168th career hit in game two, tying her for the record in Green Bay softball history. Giese will look to sit alone at the top this weekend against Cleveland State.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Tiffany Giese broke Green Bay's all-time stolen bases record last season and is on the verge of making more history. With one more hit, she will break the all-time hits record that was set by Katie Cooney from 2007-2011. Cooney racked up 168 hits in four years, while Giese has 168 career hits with 14 games remaining in the 2023 regular season.

ON THE SAME PAIGE
Freshman Paige Hanson has been a key piece in Green Bay's lineup this season, posting the team's second-highest batting average (.302) through 36 games played. One of eight true freshmen and 10 total newcomers, her 26 hits rank third on the squad, while her 10 RBIs are tied for third with Lauren Porter.

DUCK DUCK GIESE
Outfielder Tiffany Giese boasts as one of the best leadoff hitters in the Horizon League. She strung a 10-game hitting streak from February 26 to March 12, collecting 12 hits in 31 at-bats (.387 average). Giese is a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen bases so far and has pieced together another six-game hitting streak from March 16 to March 31, going 11-for-17 (.647). In GB's series against IUPUI from March 30-31, she went 3-for-9 (.333). Her batting average (.333) leads the squad and is 11th in the conference.

BANECK'S BACK
Brittany Baneck returned from injury on April 7 and remains a mainstay for the Phoenix in the circle. She has posted a team-best 3.00 ERA, which ranks ninth in the Horizon League. Opponents are hitting just .244 in HL play off Baneck, the third-highest mark in the conference. A native of Green Bay and a Green Bay Preble high school graduate, Baneck has tossed seven complete games, surrendering just 40 earned runs in 93.1 innings of work.

NEW PHOENIX FACES
Green Bay officially welcomed Mary Bean as an assistant coach on January 25. The Phoenix also welcomes 10 newcomers to the squad in 2023.
