Haupt Leads Phoenix at Zach Johnson Invitational

DES MOINES, Iowa – It was a strong showing at the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake for the Green Bay men's golf team, finishing seventh out of 14 teams. Freshman Mason Haupt once again led the Phoenix individually, finishing tied for 11th place with a 214 (+1) across the event's three rounds.

Haupt started the tournament with a career-low 66 (-5) in the first round and took the tournament lead. That pace was a challenge to keep, as he shot a 75 (+4) and 73 (+2) in the final two rounds.

Fellow freshman Brett Wieland wasn't far behind Haupt, finishing tied for 17th with a 216 (+3) overall. Logan Pechinski, Trent Meyer, and Yinta Yang rounded out the Phoenix five with scores of 219 (+6), 222 (+9), and 228 (+15) respectively.

Iowa State took home the top spot, while Drake and Bradley tied for second.

The Phoenix will be right back in action next weekend at the Badger Fall Invitational from Sept. 29 - Oct. 1. The event will be hosted at University Ridge Golf Course, with 18-hole rounds being played each of the three days.
